Day 8. Favourite M & Mme Thénardier and why?
I don’t really have a favourite Mme Thénardier, but I do love Cameron Blakely as M. Thénardier. I know the musical by heart, and no lyric is a mystery to me. But when I went to see Les Mis in London last April, Cameron Blakely made me burst out laughing when he sang “In the… absence of a victim… dear inspector… may I go?”. As someone else so rightly put it, he is the king of this part.
after seeing Matt Lucas butcher this part in the 25th, I was SO happy to see Cameron just master this role at the Queens… LOVED him!!
